Nantucket /ˌnænˈtʌkɪt/ is an island about 30 miles (50 km) by ferry south from Cape Cod, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. Together with the small islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, it constitutes the Town and County of Nantucket, a combined county/town government. The name "Nantucket" is adapted from similar Algonquian names for the island, perhaps meaning "faraway land or island" or "sandy, sterile soil tempting no one", but is very similar to the endonym of the native Nehantucket tribe that occupied the region at the time of European settlement. Shortly after its foundation, Nantucket established a whaling industry that persisted from the 17th century until the American Civil War.

Nantucket in Chicxulub Asteroid Missed[]

Faraway Island, dominated by Faraway Town, was known for its mossy and plessy hunting industry. A young greenskin who called himself Milvil decided in his youth to go to Faraway to join a mossy ship. His first night there, he befriended a pale greenskin harpooner named Geekgeek, who helped him join the crew of the Queepahd.[1]

The long journey that a harpooned mossy could take a boat on, before succumbing to its wounds, was called a Faraway sled ride.[2]
