Captain Myron Flegenheim of the California Highway Patrol was one of the chief guards at the governor's mansion in Sacramento in 2031. He had knowledge of the classics, trading puns about John Donne with Governor Nicole Yoshida when news came that President Mike Pence had ordered the arrest of the governor and lieutenant governor of Connecticut for treason after they refused to participate in federally mandated immigration sweeps.[1] At this time, Flegenheim stated that the United States was washed up.[2]
He was a smoker of the old school, preferring authentic tobacco cigarettes to the modern vaping kind. Yoshida had considered asking Chief Ali Musavi to replace Flegenheim with a nonsmoker, but was too fond of his sardonic wit.[3]
Flegenheim remained the head of Yoshida's guard detail after she became the acting president of Pacifica. Yoshida fully intended to make her the head of the Secret Service, when she got around to establishing it. [4] He helped fight off Pence's attempt to either kidnap or kill Yoshida. When he informed Yoshida that they had taken prisoners, he acceded to Yoshida's demand that the prisoners not be tortured.[5]
Flegenheim was one of Yoshida's frequent sounding boards.[6] He was the person who informed Yoshida of Patrick O'Donnell, an FBI agent who wanted asylum in Pacifica, and brought the information proving the Pence Administration was a wholly owned subsidiary of Russia.[7]
