Mount Olympus is the tallest mountain in Greece and the second tallest mountain in the Balkans. According to Ancient Greek Mythology, the mountain was home to the Greek Gods and Goddesses, ruled by Zeus.

Three women known as the Gorgons had beauty that was causing great consternation to the gods of Mount Olympus, until Andromeda drove them away.[1]

Andromeda later married Perseus on Olympus.[2]

Mount Olympus in Thessalonica[]

Several centuries after Christianity became the dominant religion of Greece, Zeus had apparently ceased to exist for want of worshipers - or possibly he was still there on top of Mount Olympus, surviving on the empathy generated by Homer's popular writings, but no longer daring to venture into the world.
