Mogilev (official transliteration: Mahilioŭ; also Mahilyow; Belarusian: Магілёў, pronounced [maɣʲiˈlʲou̯]; Russian: Могилёв, pronounced [məɡʲɪˈlʲof]) is a city in eastern Belarus, about 76 kilometres (47 miles) from the border with Russia's Smolensk Oblast and 105 km (65 miles) from the border with Russia's Bryansk Oblast. It is the administrative center of Mogilev Region and the third largest city in Belarus.
Mogilev in The Hot War[]
Mogilev became Byelorussia's primary transportation hub after Minsk was destroyed early in World War III. Boris Gribkov and his crew transferred to Mogilev after a bombing run on Budapest in July 1952.[1]
