Missionary Ridge is a geographic feature in Chattanooga, Tennessee, site of the Battle of Missionary Ridge, a battle in the American Civil War, fought on November 25, 1863. Union forces under Maj. Gens. Ulysses S. Grant, William Sherman, and George Thomas routed Confederate forces under General Braxton Bragg and lifted the siege of the city

Missionary Ridge in Southern Victory[]

In 1943, the Confederate Army stationed artillery units on Missionary Ridge to resist the United States Army's advance on Chattanooga. However, these positions were neutralized by US paratroopers, and the ridge was captured by US forces, who used it to bombard the interior of Georgia.
