Midland is a city in and the county seat of Midland County, Texas, United States, on the Southern Plains of the state's western area. The town was founded as the midway point between Fort Worth and El Paso on the Texas and Pacific Railroad in 1881. Trivially, it is the hometown of former First Lady Laura Bush, and the onetime home of George H. W. Bush, his wife Barbara and his son, George.

Midland in The House of Daniel[]

In May, 1934, the House of Daniel passed through Midland on their way to Odessa. They had opted to play against the Odessa Coyotes, even though Midland had a team that once been professional. This proved to be a mistake: the Coyotes played in a field located in a city park that didn't hold a large enough crowd to suit Harv Watrous, the House of Daniel's manager. Moreover, the Coyotes beat the House, 7-2. Watrous resolved that the next time the House came through, they'd go to Midland instead of Odessa.[1]
