Mervin McDougald was an ichthyologist at Jefferson State Ashland. He was lean and, for a little man, tall. He had hair down almost to his shoulders and a bushy brown mustache with some gray in it. On Election Night, 1980, Governor Bill Williamson contacted for help in investigating the alleged rediscovery of the speartooth salmon in Grants Pass.
McDougald was highly dubious, but agreed to go to Grants Pass with Williamson the next day to help investigate.McDougald was similarly dubious, but agreed to go with Williamson to Grants Pass the next day.[1]
