Mercer Scott was a member of the Freedom Party Guards and originally from Atlanta. He was guard chief at Camp Dependable under Jefferson Pinkard, whom he viewed as something of a rival. In 1942, when Pinkard was promoted and transferred to Camp Determination, Scott became commandant of Camp Dependable. Prior to becoming a Guard, he was a police officer, a fact that he never let Pinkard forget.
When the Second Great War ended, Scott was arrested by the United States. In a failed bid to save himself, Scott informed the US that Pinkard was the first person to hit on the idea of using trucks to asphyxiate Negroes. Scott, like Pinkard and numerous others, was executed for crimes against humanity.
