Mason City was an unincorporated community located in Okanogan County, Washington, United States. It was a "New Deal town", created by the private companies working on building the Grand Coulee Dam. It was incorporated into the Okanogan County portion of the town of Coulee Dam in 1948.
Mason City in The House of Daniel[]
In 1934, Mason City was a company town for the workers building Coulee Dam. It was also known as "Electric City". It wasn't a large town at all, but it was crazy about baseball, and loved their own semipro team, the Beavers, who played in the Idaho-Washington League.[1]
The House of Daniel played the Beavers in July. The House won, but the Beavers and their fans proved to be hospitable and gracious in defeat.[2]
