Marsberg is a town in the Hochsauerland district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Marsberg in The Hot War[]
Marsberg, West Germany fell to the Soviet Union the first half of 1951, during the opening phase of World War III.
In July 1951, after the U.S. used multiple atomic bombs to break the Soviet drive, NATO forces launched their own frantic drive to retake the West German territory. In December, the drive came to Marsberg. While the Russians did attack, German soldiers under Lt. Fieberg beat it back. Within a matter of hours, the Russians were overwhelmed and withdrew from the wrecked town.[1]
