Marijuana

Marijuana is the herbal form of cannabis, a plant used for its psychoactive effects as a recreational drug and as a medicine. Chemically, the major psychoactive compound in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Typically, marijuana itself is smoked. Other derivatives of the cannabis plant are ingested in other ways.

In different nations, marijuana is either a legal form of medicine or an outlawed narcotic. The Netherlands has traditionally been one of the most drug-tolerant nations. After the drug was outlawed in the United States in 1937 - a fact which did not prevent a profitable underground market for it through the rest of the 20th century - certain states made marijuana legal in the early 21st century.

Marijuana in "Bluff"

Marijuana, provided by Ramon Castillo, was used recreationally by the crew of the William Howells during its survey of the galaxy. When the crew found the city of Kussara on an unnamed planet, they celebrated with alcohol and marijuana.

Marijuana in State of Jefferson

Marijuana was a cash crop in Eureka, Jefferson. Consistent with the easy-going culture of Jefferson, the state government looked the other way, and refused to cooperate with the Feds on the issue. Haystack Thornton was one of the more prominent Eureka marijuana growers in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Marijuana in Supervolcano

Rob Ferguson became a user of marijuana about the time he joined Squirt Frog and the Evolving Tadpoles. His younger brother Marshall followed suit, much to the annoyance of their police officer father. When Kelly Birnbaum began dating Colin Ferguson, she stopped smoking marijuana since she knew he hated it and it didn't do much for her in any case.

The eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano disrupted production of marijuana as it had of other cash crops but Marshall's friend Tim managed to score some "killer dope" from Darren Pitcavage which he shared with his friends during a game of Diplomacy.
