The M'Sak was a nomadic ethnic group of the G'Bur species on planet L'Rau. They were regarded as barbarians by citified people such as the T'Kai, a view which was probably well justified. 30th-century human visitors to the planet found that the M'Sak reminded them of the Mongol Empire of old Earth; in particular, the M'Sak's erstwhile ruler V'Zek had a nature very similar to Chingis Khan.
The M'Sak were engaged in periodic rounds of fighting with the T'Kai. On one occasion, the T'Kai deputized a human starship, the Flying Festoon, to assist them. With the Festoon's help, the T'Kai turned back the M'Sak invasion at the Battle of D'Opt, winning that round of the fighting.
