Lyon is a city in eastern France. It has a population of 491,268 (January 2011) and is France's third-largest city after Paris and Marseille.

Lyon in The Hot War[]

In late 1951, during World War III, NATO established two prisoner of war camps outside of Lyon. Initially, one camp had been used to house all prisoners, irrespective of nationality. However, the presence of Soviet troops soon proved disruptive, and the Russians were moved to the second camp not far away. The first camp held Hungarians, Poles, Czechoslovaks, East Germans, Bulgarians, and Romanians.

The Red Cross informed the Soviet government of the Russian POW camp, thereby insuring Lyon and the other camp were spared from atomic attack.

The prisoners even created football leagues in the camp.

Istvan Szolovits was taken to this camp after his capture.[1]

Lyon in In High Places[]

Lyon was considered a small town even by the low standards of the Kingdom of Versailles.

Lyon in Worldwar[]

The Race destroyed Lyon with an explosive-metal bomb during the Race-German War of 1965.
