Mount Royal Hotel in 1930

Les Cours Mont-Royal is an upscale shopping mall in the city's downtown core of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which was converted from the former Mount Royal Hotel.

The Mount Royal Hotel opened in 1922. It was sold and rechristened the Sheraton-Mt. Royal in 1951. It ceased operations in 1984. After extensive remodeling, Les Cours Mont-Royal opened in 1988.

Les Cours Mont-Royal in Or Even Eagle Flew[]

Four American pilots briefly stayed at the Mount Royal Hotel as they tried to make their way to France to volunteer to join World War II. The four (Amelia Earhart, Gene "Red" Tobin, Andy Mamedoff, and Vernon "Shorty" Keough) only stayed at the hotel bar for a few hours before their contact, Charles Sweeny, directed them to take a train to Halifax, Nova Scotia.[1]
