Leon Finch (b. May 1949) was the son of Aaron and Ruth Finch. Ruth had miscarried before Leon was born, and Ruth's health was such that they didn't risk another pregnancy.[1] He was 18 months old on the eve of the outbreak of World War III,[2] and grew as the war progressed, surviving the Soviet attack on Los Angeles in March 1952 as a result of his family's residing in Glendale.[3] Leon was reasonably intelligent child.[4] He had curly hair he got from his mother.[5] Not long after he turned two, he had a favorite teddy bear he named "Bounce".[6]
Thanks to his youth, Leon Finch was generally unaware of the war and the implications the peace had on the world. By the end of 1952, his father had saved enough money to make a down payment on a house for the family.[7]
