Lee Ho Fook was the owner and chef of a Chinese restaurant in Limehouse. He was of Chinese ancestry, but had been born and raised in the East End.[1] During lunch one day, he served a meal to Jerome, George, and Harris, none of whom had ever had Chinese cuisine before. He took their order, advising them as to which dishes were spicy.[2]
Shortly he took their order and began cooking, another Englishman entered. The newcomer greeted Lee Ho Fook by name, and asked for a big dish of beef chow mein. Lee greeted the newcomer in turn, calling him "Mr. Warren". Warren also gave Lee one of the restaurant's menus, which he said he'd found in Soho.[3]
Mr. Warren ate his meal quickly and left, leaving half a crown. The three friends tipped somewhat less generously.[4]
Lee Ho Fook later identified Mr. Warren's corpse, which had been killed by the three when he was in his werewolf form.
Literary comment[]
Lee Ho Fook's is the name of a Chinese restaurant referenced in "Werewolves of London", but no person by that name appears in the song.
