Lakedaimon was the capital of Lokris. It had been an important city since ancient days, with its Fortress Hill containing a temple to Cytherea.
A year or so before the War of the Kingdoms, a Lokrian scholar published a modernized edition of the Two Prophets scriptures. This touched off a riot in Lakedaimon, which thankfully burned itself out after a few days.
Otto of Schlepsig and Max of Witte, playing tourist while they waited for a ship bound for Shqiperi, witnessed these riots.
Literary comment[]
Lakedaimon is based on Athens, Greece, but is named after a synonym for Athens' chief rival Sparta.
