Khesphmois was a master carpenter in Alexandria, Egypt who had his own shop. He was also one of the leaders of the guild of carpenters. He was in his mid-thirties with a round, clean-shaven face.

Khesphmois was at first reluctant to deal with Basil Argyros, ordering him out of his shop. But his wife Zois intervened, convincing him to tell the carpenters' side of the dispute. He took the magistrianos to the worksite of the pharos and convinced Argyros that the work was too dangerous to continue under the current conditions.
