Kelvin R. Throop III is a fictional character and collective pseudonym created for Analog Science Fiction and Science Fact magazine in July 1964. Throop has appeared in numerous stories by a variety of authors over several decades. The archetypal Throop story finds him within a large bureaucracy which, solely by his acid-penned memos, he causes to self-destruct.

Kelvin R. Throop in "Notes from the General Secretariat"[]

Using the pen name "Beals Becker", Kelvin R. Throop went to work in the office of the general secretariat of the United Nations. As was his pattern, he quickly gave in to his impulse to write highly caustic memos and letters to various parties.[1]

Literary comment[]

A historical figure named Beals Becker (1886–1943) was an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 1908 to 1915.
