
Kaluga (Калу́га) is a city in western Russia, located on the Oka River 188 km southwest of Moscow. It is the administrative center of Kaluga Oblast.

In 1943, the Soviet Union detonated its first explosive-metal bomb against the spearhead of a Race offensive aimed at Moscow, northeast of the city of Kaluga, stopping the offensive.
