Jorge Antonio San Martin was the first mate of the Libertad, a Panamanian registered ship. On one voyage the ship was raided by US Federal Agents while it was docked in San Pedro Harbor. The agents discovered 100 kg of caffeine, with a street value of $8,000,000. San Martin, along with Captain Rafael Ramos and three others, all Colombians, faced smuggling charges.
