John Presley Strange in The Guns of the South[]

J.P. Strange (1823-1868) was General Forrest's adjutant. During the battle with the outlawed America Will Break society in Rivington, Strange was called upon to escort Andries Rhoodie to a truce with Forrest. After this failed to provide a peaceful alternative, Strange led an assault on AWB's last bastion in the town, and was killed when he stepped on a land torpedo.[1]
