John Duffield Hill (June 30, 1840 - April 12, 1864) was Major Lionel F. Booth's adjutant at Fort Pillow. He was killed just minutes after Booth was once the Battle of Fort Pillow got underway, felled by a Confederate sharpshooter. He was attempting to set fire to the old barracks outside the fort in an effort to deny them to the Confederates.[1]
