Jim Curley was a Socialist Congressman from Massachusetts . In 1944 , he received his party's nomination for Vice President of the United States , running with incumbent President Charles W. La Follette against the Democratic ticket of Thomas Dewey and Harry Truman . The La Follette-Curley ticket was defeated by the Dewey-Truman ticket.
