Jennet Walker was a graduate student at UCLA, studying for her doctorate in medieval English history. This entailed many visits to England, where she fell in love with the city of York. In 1991, Jennet traveled to London with her mentor Dr. Samuel Thomas Preston for an important scholars' conference. By happenstance, on a tourist visit to Canterbury in the days preceding the conference, she met Dr. Edwin Durrell, one of the foremost scholars in the field.
