Jefferson City-1-

Jefferson City, nicknamed Jeff City, is the capital of the U.S. state of Missouri, and the seat of Cole County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 43,079, making it the 15th largest city in the state. Originally called Lohman's Landing, it was chosen to be the capital of the new state in 1821, a move which was finalized in 1826. The name Missouriopolis was briefly considered before selecting the current name, which commemorated former President Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson City, Missouri, was on Mike Sullivan's list of small, insignificant cities chosen as state capitals instead of larger, more obvious choices[1].
