Jeb Ledbetter attended a reunion of American Civil War veterans in Richmond in 1932 as he had a number of previous reunions. He was a wrinkled and grey Alabamian as was any other Civil War veteran but he looked alert and cheerful and the gleam in his eyes said he had been a prime forager when he had worn the grey.
He befriended John Houston Thorpe and assisted him with the goings on since it was Thorpe's first reunion. The two exchanged addresses and agreed to keep in touch by mail after the event ended.
