The House of York was a branch of the royal House of Plantagenet in England. It was descended from Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York, the fifth son of Edward III; however, its primogeniture came from female descent from Edward's third son, Lionel of Antwerp, 1st Duke of Clarence. The House of York opposed the House of Lancaster and its champion King Henry VI in the War of the Roses, ultimately defeating Lancaster and placing Edward IV upon the throne. The dynasty only held power for 22 years, with Edward IV, Edward V, and Richard III being the only Yorkist monarchs. At the Battle of Bosworth Field (1485), the dynasty was superseded by the House of Tudor.
House of York in Atlantis[]
The House of York replaced the House of Lancaster on the English throne during the early years of Atlantean settlement. The settlers of New Hastings showed no allegiance to either royal house.
