Herul was the proprietor of the Blue Fox tavern in Argentan. He was a very fat man, even fatter than Clever Rolf who kept his accounts, with a black beard that reached halfway down his rotund body. He allowed Clever Rolf free drinks.[1]
As a consequence of a curse placed on him by the evil wizard Mebodes, Clever Rolf ducked into the Blue Fox one morning as he was being swarmed by bees. Once inside, Clever Rolf threw a dipper of mead onto the bar, which lured the bees. Clever Rolf crushed them as they drank, much to Herul's rage.[2]
Later, the ownership of the Blue Fox passed to Marcel.[3]
