Major Hannebrink was a United States Army officer stationed in Rosenfeld in occupied Manitoba during the Great War. In 1916, he sentenced to death a gang of local underage males who had been caught committing acts of sabotage. One of the terrorists was Alexander McGregor, son of Farmer Arthur McGregor. The senior McGregor made it his mission in life to kill Hannebrink.
