The boy died at the age of 11 in 1596.
Hamnet Shakespeare in Ruled Britannia[]
Hamnet Shakespeare died in Stratford in 1596, just two years before his father William Shakespeare played a crucial role in overthrowing Spanish rule in England.[1] His father was not able to see his son before the boy died.[2]
That same year, William Shakespeare wrote Prince of Denmark, a story of fathers and sons, whose main character was named Hamlet.[3]
