Rosecrans

Guildenstern is based on Union General William Rosecrans. The analog's name comes from William Shakespeare's Hamlet: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are a duo of minor Danish characters who are always seen together, and often confused both by other characters and by audience members. Rosecrans is an Anglicized form of Rosenkrants, the Dutch form of Rosencrantz.
