Part of the Great Continent is visible in this fan-drawn map, based on information stated in the novella. It may not reflect Turtledove's intention with complete accuracy.

In Harry Turtledove's novella "Down in the Bottomlands," the Great Continent is a massive formation of land which consists of Europe, Asia, and Africa, plus the "Bottomlands," which is a dried-out Mediterranean Sea, kept in check by the Pillars of Gibraltar. Much of the novella's drama is based around the political situation which this geography, so dissimilar to that of our world, creates.

Turtledove tells us very little about the Great Continent, beyond basic information about the Bottomlands and the politics of the immediately bordering regions, where Neanderthals are common (mainly in Europe) and coexist more or less harmoniously with Homo sapiens. Therefore, an in-universe article has not been attempted.
