George Herman Mahon (September 22, 1900 - November 19, 1985) served as a Democratic United States Congressman from Texas from 1935-1979.
George Mahon in Southern Victory[]
George Mahon was a United States Congressman from Lubbock, Houston. However, he was a Confederate nationalist and, like the rest of Houston and Kentucky's Congressional delegations in the late 1930s, had been elected on the Freedom Party ticket. He saw his role in Congress as limited to disrupting parliamentary procedures and agitating for a plebiscite for his home state to decide whether to remain in the US or rejoin the CS.[1]
