Bakersfield is a city and the county seat of Kern County, California, United States. Bakersfield's population is approximately 380,000, making it the ninth-most populous city in California and the 52nd-most populous city in the nation. The city is a significant hub for both agriculture and oil production. Kern County is the most productive oil-producing county, and the fourth most productive agricultural county (by value) in the United States.

In 1934, Bakersfield was an oil town and the last town of any size before Los Angeles.[3] It was also the home of a Coca-Cola bottling plant, which had a semipro baseball team, also called the Coca-Colas.[4]
The House of Daniel played the Coca-Colas on August 8, 1934, beating them 11-2.[5]
