The African Possessions of the British Empire included South Africa, British West Africa consisting of the coastal lands around the Gulf of Guinea and separated from South Africa by Portuguese Angola, and British East Africa along the east coast from Portuguese Mozambique to and including the Horn of Africa but excluding Madagascar which was part of the Franco-SpanishHoly Alliance. Ethiopia was considered politically part of British India. Egypt and the part of the Sudan east of the Nile were part of the Ottoman Empire, itself a British protectorate.[1]
OTL nations and regions shown as part of the British African Possessions[]
Some of these nations were established cultural regions at the point of divergence, which seems to be 1763. The vast majority were created in OTL in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, so it is impossible, without speculation, to determine what names they bear in the Georgestimeline.
