Not to be confused with Yreka, California, another "Jeffersonian" city.

EurekaCA

Eureka is the principal city and county seat of Humboldt County in the Redwood Empire region of California. The city is located on U.S. Route 101 on the shores of Humboldt Bay, 270 miles (430 km) north of San Francisco and 100 miles (160 km) south of the Oregon border. At the 2010 census, the population of the city was 27,191, and the population of Greater Eureka was 45,034.

Eureka is the largest coastal city between San Francisco and Portland, Oregon and the westernmost city of more than 25,000 residents in the 48 contiguous states.

Eureka was not encompassed by the original map of the hypothetical state of Jefferson, but is included in more recent versions.

Eureka in The House of Daniel[]

After he left Enid, Oklahoma in 1934, Clayton Spivey made his way to California, and stayed near Eureka for a time.[1]

Eureka in "Someone is Stealing the Great Throne Rooms of the Galaxy"[]

When Rufus Q Shupilluliumash hit upon the answer to the crime wave of throne room thefts, he shouted "Eureka"! Why the name of a not very large city in northern California should have become the cry for discovering something, Rufus did not know, but it had. The Space Patrol could be a tradition-bound (and -gagged) outfit sometimes.[2]

Eureka in State of Jefferson[]

Eureka, Jefferson was located 200 miles southwest of the capital city, Yreka. In August 1979, the Yeti Lama traveled to Eureka by boat to meet with Jefferson's governor, Bill Williamson.[3]

When Williamson and his publicist, Barbara Rasmussen, arrived, they learned that the Yeti Lama's boat, the Heiwa Maru, was late. They had lunch in Eureka, and Williamson was able to play the pol, including a quick conversation with a local marijuana grower who appreciated Yreka's policy of looking the other way.[4] Not long after, the Heiwa Maru arrived and Williamson and the Yeti Lama successfully met.[5]
