Eric Dunedin is an important secondary character in L. Sprague de Camp's L. Sprague de Camp's 1940 short work, "The Wheels of If". He appeared again in Harry Turtledove's "The Pugnacious Peacemaker", a sequel to de Camp's work.
Dunedin is Ib Scoglund's manservant. When Allister Park's consciousness takes up residence in Scoglund's body, he continues to use Dunedin a servant, using Dunedin for information about the Bretwaldate of Vinland. Over the course of the novel, Park takes Dunedin into his confidence. Dunedin's sense of duty keeps him serving Park. At the end of the story, Dunedin alerts Park that Scoglund has been appointed to the International Court for the Continent of Skrelleland.
When Park first arrives in Vinland, Dunedin comes to his aid and takes him home. Park privately thinks of the simian-looking Dunedin as "Monkey-face" throughout the story, although he never says this name out loud.
