Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) is burst of electromagnetic radiation that results from an explosion (especially a nuclear explosion) or a suddenly fluctuating magnetic field. The resulting electric and magnetic fields may couple with electrical/electronic systems to produce damaging current and voltage surges.

In the initial phase of their invasion of Tosev 3, the Race hoped that the EMPs created by high altitude explosions of explosive-metal bombs would put Tosevite forces in disarray, but the lack of advanced technology among the not-empires left the EMPs practically harmless. This was a rare instance of the Race actually over-estimating the human race.
