The City of Dundee is Scotland's fourth-largest city and the 51st-most-populous built-up area in the United Kingdom. The mid-year population estimate for 2015 was 148,210. It lies within the eastern central Lowlands on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, which feeds into the North Sea. Under the name of Dundee City, it forms one of the 32 council areas used for local government in Scotland.

Dundee in The Hot War[]

After the atomic bombing of Sculthorpe in 1952, most of its surviving men and materiel were relocated to an airfield near Dundee. Planes from this airfield illegally crossed neutral Finland to bomb Petrozavodsk as part of Operation Long Reach.[1] Bruce McNulty was stationed there until the final armistice in Asia.[2]

Dundee in The War That Came Early[]

It was into an area near Dundee, that Germany's Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess parachuted out of an airplane in 1940. British Army Staff Sergeant Alistair Walsh, who was on leave and happened to be bicycling nearby, swiftly took Hess into custody.[3]
