Donalitu[1] was the king of Jelgava at the outset of the Derlavaian War. He was forced to flee when Algarve overran Jelgava. Mezentio of Algarve placed his brother Mainardo on the Jelgavan throne for the duration of the war. Donalitu reclaimed his throne after Algarve's defeat.
Literary comment[]
Donalitu's role in the Jelgava storyline parallels the career of the Spanish King Ferdinand VII during the Napoleonic Wars and their aftermath.
