Lt. Diffi was the second-in-command at Fort Ironclaw at the time of the Ontinil expedition. He served under Captain Jawj. When Rekek and Junior arrived at the fort, Sgt. Snegor brought them to Diffi, who in turn brought them to Jawj. Diffi suffered Jawj's bad temper with appropriate stoicism; Rekek privately concluded Diffi wasn't being paid enough to deal with Jawj. Once Jawj was content Rekek and Junior could guide Ontinil into the Black Hills, he told Diffi to turn them over to Ontinil.[1]
