Dawud ibn Musa was an investigator for the Republican Sultanate of the Maghrib. His Jewish origins gave him an unusual, out-of-the-box perspective on life, which was a source of much fascination and intellectual stimulation for his superior Khalid al-Zarzisi. Dawud was also distinguished by his fondness for tobacco, a vice which very few in his immediate circle shared.
