
Dallas is the third-largest city in the state of Texas and the ninth-largest in the United States. The city covers 385 square miles (997 km²) and is the county seat of Dallas County. It is part of the same metropolitan area as Fort Worth. As of July 1, 2006, U.S. Census estimates put central Dallas at a population of over 1.2 million.

While Dallas survived the Great War without a scratch, it and Fort Worth were heavily damaged by a surprise US bombing raid in 1942 during the Second Great War.
