Dakota was a state of the United States. It was admitted to the Union a few years after the Second Mexican War. A solidly Socialist state, its most famous son was Hosea Blackford, a successful congressman who eventually became one of the least successful Presidents of the United States.

One of Dakota's bigger cities was Bismarck.
