The Republic of Cyprus is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean, and a member state of the European Union. The island has been part of (among others) the Egyptian, Persian, Roman, Arabic, and British Empires before being recognised as independent in 1960.

Cyprus in The Two GeorgesEdit

Cyprus was part of the British Empire. In the late 20th Century, one of the titles of King-Emperor Charles III was Lord of Cyprus.[1]
