Croydon is a large town in south London, England, United Kingdom. It is one of the largest commercial districts in Greater London outside Central London. The entire town had a population of 192,064 as of 2011, whilst the wider borough had a population of 384,837. Historically part of the hundred of Wallington in the county of Surrey, Croydon was amalgamated into Greater London in 1965.

Croydon, England, was the namesake of one of the prime cities of northern Atlantis.

Croydon in Or Even Eagle Flew[]

Croydon was the site of an RAF operational training unit. In addition to British apprentice pilots, the barracks also held flyers from Canada, South Africa, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and France. American pilots Amelia Earhart, Red Tobin, Andrew Mamedoff, and Shorty Keough also trained at the Croydon OTU between June[1] and July 1940.[2]
