Croydon, named after an English city, was a city and state in Atlantis, north of Hanover. It had the honor of being the place where the Atlantean War of Independence both began and ended. Much of the State of Croydon was founded by strict sects of Protestant Christians.
Leland Newton, who was Consul of Atlantis during the Atlantean Servile Insurrection, hailed from Croydon.
