The Crimson Desert was an area of Home, southeast of Sitneff. Its typical temperature was 55/100, which translated to 130 degrees Fahrenheit in Tosevite reckoning. Saltbushes and peffelem plants, and a few endemic small crawling animals, lived there. It was also home to the fossil beds where the savant Iffud reached his conclusions regarding the Theory of Evolution. While members of the Race admired the Crimson Desert for its wild grandeur, Tosevites found its temperature intolerable.[1]
