Creek Nation

The Creek are an American Indian people originally from the southeastern United States, also known by their original name Muscogee (or Muskogee), the name they use to identify themselves today.

The Creek had been relocated from Tennessee and Alabama to what eventually became Sequoyah by the United States government in 1825. After the War of Secession, the Indian Territory joined the victorious Confederate States, where the Creek and their neighbors enjoyed a measure of autonomy within the CS.

During the Great War, the Creek joined with the rest of the Confederacy to fight off the invading US. However, in the Creek government had been relatively sheltered in the first year of the war. When the US advanced in 1915, the Creek army naively launched a counter-attack, incurring frightful losses.
